VASCULAR DOPPLER IMAGING
SOUND LIKE YOU?
- Do you have kidney failure or End-stage renal disease (ESRD)?
- Do you need an AV- fistula or AV graft for hemodialysis?
- Do you need an urgent Doppler examination of your upper limbs before your surgery and immediate reporting?
- Do you have an AV fistula or graft already but are experiencing swelling of the upper limb or poor blood flow or numbness of the upper limb?
If you or your loved one has kidney failure then Hemodialysis will be needed. Hemodialysis is a treatment to filter wastes and water from your blood, as your kidneys did when they were healthy. Hemodialysis helps control blood pressure and balance important minerals, such as potassium, sodium and calcium in your blood.
Hemodialysis can help you feel better and live longer, but it’s not a cure for kidney failure.
Before starting Hemodialysis, you will need a vascular access. This is done as a minor surgical procedure by a Vascular Surgeon. Your vascular access will be your lifeline through which you’ll connect to the dialyzer. Dialysis moves blood through a filter at a high rate.
Before any surgery can be done, a special Doppler ultrasound of the veins and arteries in your upper limb is required to assess the best vessels to use and the most suitable location for your new vascular access.
At Eastern Medical Imaging, we have the leading expert in Vascular Doppler assessments. Our in-house Radiologist has over 18 years’ experience in this field and will provide you with same-day accurate and reliable results.
